History

The Fond du Lac Morning Rotary was formed by the Fond du Lac Noon Club to accommodate potential Rotarians for whom it was not possible to meet at noon. Dick Rupp, Al Tollefson, and John Pelletier, Noon Rotarians, were instrumental in the formation of the new club that was chartered on January 10, 1991. Jim Neumann and Pete Roehrig served as Co-Chairs of the Club-in-Formation prior to becoming a chartered club.

Thirty-three members formed the nucleus of the Fond du Lac Morning Rotary. Those members were (*indicates current member):

Over the years, the Club has donated over $120,000 to various philanthropic organizations and activities. To generate these funds, there have been a variety of fund raising activities since the beginning of the Club.

Community and philanthropic projects which have been a continuing passion for our members exemplifing the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, are:

  • The Birthday Book Program at Fond du Lac elementary schools
  • The Fond du Lac Morning Rotary Scholarships
  • Rotary Reader program at Pier Elementary School
  • The 151 Bypass Bike Trail
  • Fond du Lac Youth Baseball, Tim Twohig & FDL Morning Rotary Field

Presently there are 58 members who meet each Thursday morning at 7:00 am.  After many years at the Ramada Inn, on January 1, 2009, we moved our meeting location to South Hills Golf & Country Club on Fond du Lac Avenue (Highway 45) pm on the south side of Fond du Lac.
