News: FdL Morning Rotary Donates to Pool-Pass Program

July 29, 2009

This summer thanks to a collaborative effort in the community more than 700 children and their parents have a healthy, safe place to be together. The Fond du Lac Morning Rotary is proud to be one of the service groups involved with a financial donation to the Pool Pass program. “In these tough economic times we realize the importance of supporting programs such as this, to help local families who cannot afford pool passes have the opportunity to receive them” said Mary Gerlach, Community Service Chairperson for Morning Rotary.

Families request assistance by signing up at the Salvation Army who screens and verifies the needs of the applicants. The Parks Department and Recreation Department provide the special passes and the Fond du Lac Area Foundation accepts the donations and grants the checks to the city to cover the cost of the passes. It is truly a team effort.

The focus of Morning Rotary is to make a difference in the Fond du Lac Community and in the world through projects and donations. The clubs two fundraisers are well supported by the community; a booth at Walleye Weekend and Wine Around the World. As a result of these events over $120,000 has been donated to a variety of local and international causes. The next Wine Around the World is scheduled for January 30, 2010.
